Night-time Skincare Routine

It may sound really strange but I really enjoy taking time at the end of the day to remove every trace of make-up and prepare my skin for a night of recovery. I often think we forget how much our skin goes through during the day and how important it is to give it time to rejuvenate and recover through the night.

Everyone's skin is different so this is just to show the products I use which work for me and which have helped to really improve the condition of my skin on the whole.

The products I use (in this order) are;
  • No7 Beautiful Skin Facewipes
  • L'Oreal Paris Skin Perfection 3 in 1 Purifying Micellar Solution (very much like  Bioderma)
  • Biore Combination Skin Balancing Cleanser
  • No7 Soft & Soothed Gentle Toner
  • Nivea Pure & Natural Regenerating Night Cream
  • Boots Vitamin E Gentle Eye Cream (the skin around the eye is 40% thinner than the rest of the face so use your ring finger to gently dab the cream on and not rub it in)

My skin type is combination/oily so I find these products work best for me but everyone's different!

Sleek's 'Storm' i-Divine Eyeshadow Palette

The past few times that I've visited my local Superdrug they have been out of stock of this product so you can only imagine my delight when I finally saw one sitting on the shelf!!

I have been wanting to get my hands on this as I love pretty much every colour in the palette.

As with most Sleek products the packaging is the standard black box, a bigger version of the blush palette blogged about here.

The palette I got is the 'Storm' palette and hosts a lot of beautiful neutral colours. I've only had the occasion to experiment with the colours once but was spoilt for choice on what look to go for. All the colours blend together so nicely therefore giving so much variety. What more could you want for £9.99!

The palette contains 3 matte colours and 9 shimmery ones, giving more options to what you can create. Each colour is very pigmented and I found, with the help of an eye-shadow primer applied before the shadows, that they lasted the whole evening without creasing.

I can't wait to experiment more with this palette and may even invest in couple of the other palettes for even more variety!!

Church BBQ OOTD

Last week it was my church's annual BBQ. The morning started off being very clouded over and there was no way of judging which way it was going to go. However, staying optimistic I thought I would take my chance with a pretty dress and keep my fingers crossed for sunshine. (I also made sure to pack a pair of jeans, hoody, wellies, umbrella and a massive jacket just in case.)

Neither the weather nor the BBQ disappointed and I ended up with some of the worst sunburn I've ever had. However, at least I did it in style.

This pretty dress is from New Look and was half price at only £12. It would have been rude not to really.

The material feels really soft and silky making it very comfortable. It also flatters any figure and helps to create curves by pulling in at the waist. The length is mid thigh and the style of the dress results in it refusing to blow up in the wind, leaving my hands free for all the lovely food there was! I love that pattern and can't wait to wear it more in summer/on holidays!

What's you favourite summer dress style?

Sleek's 'Sweet Cheeks' Candy Collection Blush Palette

Sleek is fast becoming one of my favourite drugstore brands and their limited edition Candy Collection blush palette in 'Sweet Cheeks' is part of the reason for this.

The packaging is very classic and standard for Sleek products and is similar to Nars packaging- black box which gets dirty by make-up very quickly.

Not only is the packaging appealing but the blushes themselves are just beautiful. The palette contains a bright pink cream blush, a matte lilac blush and a shimmery coral/pink blush. Each of the blushes are very pigmented with a long lasting wear. They're all very buildable so there really is something for everyone and every occasion within this palette.

Not only are the colours stunning but the price wasn't too bad either. This palette retails for £9.99, which is a bargain considering their single blushes are £4.49 each, so you're almost getting a third blush free!

I absolutely love these blushes and would 100% recommend this palette. It is limited edition and I can't see them hanging around for long so go grab one quick while you can!!

Diamond Wedding Anniversary OOTD

On this day, 60 years ago, my Grandparents got married and to celebrate they held a massive family gathering in a hotel where we enjoy a very nice meal. The evening was very special and it's amazing to think they have shared a very happy life together for 60 years!!

So because it was such a special occasion for my family I though I would share with you what I decided to wear. I did go rather casual but with an element of smart in this pink dress from Primark which was only £5!!! They can have a diamond wedding anniversary every week at this price. The dress is very flattering with a tie at the waist and a crochet effect on the top half. I paired the dress with a pink bow belt to draw the waist line in further and to add to the girlie theme.

Revlon 'ColorStay Ultimate Suede' Review

One of Revlon's latest releases are the ColorStay Lipsticks. As the name suggests it has been designed to leave the colour on your lips for a long time and boy does it! I bought one of these just to check it out and see if it lived up to expectations but was not expecting such great results. I put the pink one (005 Muse) on my lips around 9am before leaving for work and arrived back at 5pm with it still there!!! Not only did it last a 6hour shift it also survived through a coronation chicken panini, can of Irn Bru and a latte.

The colours are brilliant and very buildable. I got the pink one first and loved it so much that a few days later I rushed out to get a more subtle and wearable colour- introducing 025 Socialite. The lipsticks are very pigmented and leave a matte finish (althought looks glossy due to the sun in the picture below.)

As only to be expected with long lasting lip products it can become quite drying on the lips. However, it was nowhere near as drying as lip staining pens and many other 'long lasting' lip products which I've tried. This drying issue can easily be addressed by applying a thin layer of either a gloss or just lip balm.

All in all I love these products and can picture my collection of them increasing quite rapidly. If you're like me and find you are someone who puts make-up on in the morning and wants it to last throughout the day instead of having to touch up constantly then these are perfect!!
